I have a C6 in my truck, and will be doing some pretty heavy towing with it. 30ft 5th Wheel (7700lbs dry). I have been following the thread on the exhaust brake, and noticed the mention about the locking torque converter with a ground wire. I am assuming this is for the E40D? Is there a way to do this on a C6?

Great Question Ryan, I am wondering the same thing. I know that you can't do it electronically, but does anyone know if there is a lock up TC for a C6?
Of a HD TC that is built for towing?

I think BD power makes a really HD TC for the C6, not positive though. I thought I saw it on the DIS website, might be worth checking out, I was going to go along that route when my tranny fails. Scotty
Might be a decent option and they are only 400.00 some odd bucks. Could make a good difference for the C6. But really, in stock form it is a pretty HD unit. Scotty
Thanks for the link Scott. I'll be looking at one of those when the time comes for tranny work.

This is off-topic, but will a C6 out of a 460 bolt up to a 7.3L? I have heard that the bellhousing pattern is the same, and I've heard it's different.

patterns are differant--the best tc for a c6--have a reputable shop lower the stall as low as you feel comfortable with---less slippage on the open road----

"TCI®’s Truckmaster torque converters are state-of-the art components built to handle the extreme demands of today’s Ford Powerstroke turbo diesel truck owners. With increased strength, lower stall speeds and heavy duty Torrington bearings, they reduce internal heat increasing the longevity of the entire transmission."
The only thing about that ad, was that it listed the 7.3 powerstroke with a C6 and we all know the IDI was king during those years, and the 7.3 IDI wasn't offered very long before the the E40D made its debut, but it does sound like a better converter than a stock one. Hard tellin, it would be nice to have one of their RV trans when the one in my truck fails. For 1K bucks, couldn't be too bad of a deal. Scotty
I noticed that too, Scott. I'm sure it's just a generic ad. The ad for the 6.9/7.3 and DI all read the same, except for the application years and part numbers.
$100 cheaper than DIS, though. I know BD has a great rep, but so does TCI.

the C6 wasn't offered with a C6, well at least not very long before the the E40d made its debut,

I assume you mean the C6 wasn't offered with the Powerstroke, because the C6 was always offered with the C6.
The C6 was offered with the Powerstroke through the 1996 model year. They are rare, but Ford did build some.
