C6 Tranny Fluid lLeak

We just got done putting a motor in and thought finally we were done. Drove it about 20 miles and parked it, came back and was checking to see if we missed anything and I've got oil dripping from tranny. I'm going to assume that we goofed up seal on input shaft when we put motor back in. Will probably drop it out in the morning and check it. Are there any other seals or gaskets we should do when we've got it out. Is there a way to save most of the oil as we replaced most of it when we put the motor in.

Thanks, Greg

Re: C6 Tranny Fluid lLeak

Whenever an engine is pulled, it is common practice to change the front pump seal. I'm not surprised that it's leaking. Tim

Re: C6 Tranny Fluid lLeak

We did replace the front seal but had problems with a couple of motors so ended up doing it a couple of times.

Re: C6 Tranny Fluid lLeak

Once you change the seal, you gently install the torque convertor. When you pull the engine back out, carefully check the T.C., pump and seal. Make sure there is no sharp edges on the T.C. Put some white grease on the seal and T.C. to lube the seal and keep it from burning up Good luck, Tim

Re: C6 Tranny Fluid lLeak

may not be the front tq seal--but the front pump gasket--over a period of time--the gaskets like to dry out--have replaced them before--try and get a can of trans stop leak--and before you hotdogs start flaming--try it--and see if the leak stops--what it does is swells the seals and gaskets--and softens the seals also--and only put in what the directions say--in this case the whole bottle of aspirin aint better------

Re: C6 Tranny Fluid lLeak

be REALLY careful about how much stop-leak you put in.
too much is a sure fire way to kill you tranny until it is dead dead dead.
