Canada Guys- what additive for ULSD

Howdy Mates:

been a while - changes to site look good;
About to head to California - What is the name of the additive you are using ( Guys in Canada ) to increase lubricity in the ULSD

Have been using some tranny fluid - mostly use Bio - even with b50 I am having issues - a lift pump is now going off fast on 200Tdi - was running exclusive b99 for 3 years no incident but for return lines- last 4 tanks have been b25- b50 - now leaking lift pump
F350 Navistar 7.3 IDI needs a new injector pump due to last trip to Cali and one tank of ULSD

What is interesting is the pump I purchase the Dino even says " to to be used in 2007 or newer - Not ULSD - yet physical evidence suggests other wise

Know about 2 stroke etc....

Cheers:

Re: Canada Guys- what additive for ULSD

I use Hayes diesel treat available at most truck stops and used by most truckers. Some USA truck stops have it added in their fuel in the winter...... There are a million different kinds/brands but I find that Hayes makes mine run better..... I used Diesel kleen last summer towing my trailer, but black smoke was a result when using it under load.

Re: Canada Guys- what additive for ULSD

What I find is that if you stay with the same additive you will in time find how well it works in your rig. I used Howes for a year and found it helps make my engine run better and smoother and a little boost in power or so it seemed, a little easier and quicker starting and an improvement in fuel millage by 1 mpg. Also I use progressive shifting now and I dont run up the speed till I am in a higer gear and that may have contributed to the better fuel millage. Also when I installed a new clutch that was when I noticed the better fuel milage. Now if the clutch has anything to do with it or not I dont know. How well the Howes additive lubricates the pump and injectors I dont know. I am switching over to the Lucas additive to see how it does since I use the Lucas oil additive in my oil change and have been happy with that. It extended adding oil from 500 miles to about over 2000 miles and I hope that is a good thing.....I will add the Lucas oil additive in the next oil change.

I only use about 4oz of additive in each tank after using full strength in the fuel filter and 8oz in each tank for a bout 2 or maybe it was 3 months.. Then I started using 4oz in each tank and it ran good with good milage....

Planned upgrades are a new and better turbo and larger exhaust pipes than the 21/2s that are already under the rig/ would like a 6 spd tranny but dont know if that is a feasable or smart investment yet.

Ashless 2 cycle oil with TC-W3

1oz per gallon

No Marvel mystery oil, it's a step back on the lubricity scale.
