cant getthe bearing thingy mabober off !

ok so the rear end bearings came apart and the inner bearing all that is left is the inner part of the bearing but its still on the the axle tube and i cant get it off ideas?

Are you talking about the inner bearing race of the inner bearing? If so you have a couple ways to get it off 1) heat it with a torch and drive it off, don't make it cherry red but hot enough to make it expand, will take a little time, 2) use a angle grinder and make a deep crack in it and then use a chisel and hammer to finish splitting it, don't try to cut all the thru but just a deep cut almost all the way. Sounds like when the bearing went it spun the bearing on the axle tube and has welded it's self to the tube. If that is the case when you bet the race off you will need to dress the surface up. Take a file and knock the rough area off and then get some coarse emery paper and go over the tube and dry fit the bearing on the tube. It has to be a snug fit but not tight. This will take some time so take time and you will be alright. Hang in there........... Jim

If a little heat does not loosen it up enough to slide the inner ring off, you will beed a 3 jaw bearing puller (gear puller). You will need a piece if metal or something to put across the end of the hub so the puller has something to pull against. Avoid using hammers, etc directly on the race, as it is very easy to slip and damage the threads, etc on the hub.

Also, as was said before, if you can cut a slot, and crack it with a hammer and chisel in the slot, that will take the tension off real quick.
