cavitation
I have a 89 F-350 4x4 crewcab that has died do to cavitation in #4,7,and 8. The truck had a hard construction life before I bought it and I'm sure the coolant was only checked when it would get hot and they would add water. Anyhow I have pulled the motor 3 times to do different repairs and I'm at the point that I have had enough. I rebuilt the motor 5k miles ago and put in turbo pistons, rebuilt the heads, new injectors and rblt IP, and added a complete banks turbo and exhaust. I am going to do one of 3 things depending on input here.
1) least desireable- pull the motor and sleeve all the cylinders.
2) less desireable- take a huge loss and sell everything the way it is
3) most desireable- sell all the good components, pistons (they cost me $800), heads, injectors and IP, and the turbo and stick a Cummins in it. I love the truck just not to keen on the cavitation thing.
can someone give me an idea what I can get out of the turbo and exhaust? I'll make someone a good deal if they take the whole motor and turbo. The motor is still in the truck and you can here it run and drive it. I drained all the water so no more damage can occur.
Thanks guys
Kurt
