CDR Valve

Hello again. Haven't been here much lately. Haven't really had time to mess with my truck at all. I'm trying to narrow down an oil leak issue. I've read and understand the function of the CDR Valve. Someone posted the location in reference to a non-turbo truck but where is it on a turbo truck? Do I just replace it or test it first? If test then how?

Re: CDR Valve

Okay I've decided to just replace this as mine looks original. Anyone have a good place to get one? I've looked on-line at the usual places AutoZone, Advance Auto and I don't see anything listed.

Planned upgrades are a new and better turbo and larger exhaust pipes than the 21/2s that are already under the rig/ would like a 6 spd tranny but dont know if that is a feasable or smart investment yet.

Bringing this back up. I have a new CDR valve ford part number E3TZ6A665A and gasket E3TZ6A892A (both numbers posted above) in front of me.

The so-called gasket above is more or less an o ring with a square cross section. There is another rubber piece, a grommet that fits into the valve cover and into that goes the longer leg on the CDR valve. Does anyone know that part number? thanks.

You may have to go to your Ford dealer and get them to look for the part from a schematic.....

According to my local dealer, the part number for the grommet or "retainer crankcase valve" that goes between the CDR and the valve cover is f3tz6a892-a.

However, it is listed as discontinued at a local dealer as of 2004. Unless I find one in stock at another local dealer I will go to International to get it.

Edited to say that I think I was given a wrong part number for the above from the dealer. This site may have the correct part number in the list Ford diesel 6.9 7.3 IDI

Instead of even bothering with Ford or International I ordered Mercruiser Part number 25-808256. It was less than $10. Mercruiser used this engine in some boats for awhile. I will let you all know when I get it in my hands and verify it is the correct part. I ordered it from Stem To Stern Boat Works
