I know this a dumb newbie question but after searching the archives here and elsewhere I still need help. I'm posting in the IDI area only because most of us have the 16", 8 hole wheels.
I have a long, dual head pressure guage but I can't even get to the valve caps on my rear wheels, much less check or fill them. I haven't tried removing the simulators yet, but I'm not sure that's going to help. Looks like I have to take a wheel off just to check pressure.
How do you guys do it? Do you leave the valve caps off?

On mine, removing the simulators did help a little. You need a good dual gauge from a truckstop. the head is differant than the cheap ones.
then after all of that I just got the braided extensions. Had 1 go bad, but going good since then.

I did a tire change on a Dodge Dually a while back. The braided extender had come loose and centrifugal force had allowed it to tear the valve stem out. So if you do use them, make sure they are very secure.
I guess I'm lucky, I have long skinny fingers so I could always *just* manage to get the valve caps on and off the inboard tire. I believe there are also bolt-in valve stems that are bent to make the angle better for inflation in dually apps.
They are an awesome supply company. Also anyone that runs a shop should check out their clip-on tire chucks. They hold super tight, they WILL NOT fall off! I bought one, put it on a junk wheel, and pulled as hard as I could, it didn't budge. And I'm a 203# working man.

I really like the braided extensions on that page. But my aluminum wheels are pretty thick where the extension comes thru the holes. I don't know if those clamps are quite wide enough. Those puppies sure wouldn't come loose, that's for sure. OkieG.

The valve stems on my rig are metal bolt in ones, not the rubber ones.
Mine look a lot like the $35 from camping world.
