Clutch Problems?

Hi all... new to the forum. I just returned from a trip around the state towing a travel trailer. Periodically, I experienced chattering when starting out from a stop. Some in 1st gear, most noticable in 2nd. I didn't notice any slippage as such, just the chatter. It always seemed to happen after driving several hours. Also, it was in the mountains, so lots of upshifts/downshifts and it was hot. No problems with shorter or less strenuous drives. I assumed it was the clutch, but after some research I'm wondering if the dual mass flywheel might be the problem. Is there anything else I should be checking? The truck is a 1993 F250 4x4 with about 91K miles on it.

Assuming the worst case, the LUK solid flywheel kit sounds like a pretty decent setup. However, I'm concerned about the gear noise issues. What's the deal with that? Is it noticeable at highway speeds or is it just at idle? Is there significant vibration? I would be very interested to get some feedback from anyone who has gone this route.

Thanks!

Re: Clutch Problems?

You can go with the luk mod but by aware some here have done the luky_larue mod look for that one, it will be much cheaper with the same result. I have the luk solid flywheel and the ceramic clutch, the noise is not much only on first and 2nd gear depending on the truck but when you go faster like on the highway it will go away (no need to go that fast to feel the diference) if you dont do it yoursef make SURE your mechanic uses all the parts you suply if you will do it yourself do luky_larue mod just dont get the ceramic clutch is a pita to back up.

my 2c, Exekiel.
