Clutch Problems, help.

it all started when somehow my dust cover got caught on my flywheel and it bent it all to shreads. since then i have dropped out at least three clutch springs. i think i only have one left because that is all i can see. and it is really loose in there, i can wiggle it 3/4 inch both ways. what is causing this. what clutch will work. will one from a stock powerstroke work. the hell of it is that the clutch still seems to work fine. i need help im only available to work on it saturday and sunday. by monday it has to be figured out.thanks fellas in advance.

Re: Clutch Problems, help.

Your dual-mass fly wheels is going bad. Mine did the same thing. It spit out springs for almost a year. When I finally replaced it there was not one spring left, and like yours it still worked. I would buy the LUK single mass flywheel. I've been very happy with mine. I would think you could pull the trans off and have the flywheel and clutch installed in about a day.

Re: Clutch Problems, help.

I just did mine on my truck I also replaced the rear main seal as well since I had the tranny out. If I were you I would replace the rear main at the same time so that you dont have to pull the tranny again if it starts to leak. I also went with the Luk conversion with the solid flywheel and clkutch kit that included clutch pressure plate pilot and throwout bearing was like 54.00 shipped to my door. you have an 11" stock clutch kit and this will upgrade you to the 12" which will be better for pulling. It took me about 4 hours of solid work to pull the old one and get the new one in. the worst part on mine was the turbo downpipe was in the way

Re: Clutch Problems, help.

The "Lucky Mod" may be a better alternative if money is an issue (when isn't it). I believe all parts are left stop with the exception of the clutch disk, which must be the spring type to replace the springs in the dual-mass flywheel.
