Cutting truck in half??

Have some experience with 7.3 see sig. Was looking at buying another used one. Here it is - 1989 with 100k f350 4wd, 161" wheel base, e4od rebuilt. What I want to do is make truck into a flat bedd plow truck. Can I cut the truck almost in half to shorten the wheel base? If so how much do you guess it will cost and is it realistic to do??

Re: Cutting truck in half??

done all the time with towtrucks.
the rule of thumb is you need 1 foot of straight frame on either side of the cut. That way the frame sleeve can be welded up solid. I go even further of two frame bolts on either side of the rail for additional stiffness. Been done frame mods for 15 years. never had an issue with any of my own jobs.
