Direct injection head swap?

hey guys
I got some more questions about this rebuild I'm doing for a buddy. While I was looking the heads over and cleaning them up, I noticed that one of the valve guide are cracked. The deal with this engine is we are taking some stuff off an old engine and putting them into a new block. But off the good engine/block the heads are direct, idk for sure though. You can see the tip of the injector pretty plainly. And i know the engine is not a powerstroke because it is naturally aspirated. So are they just diffent heads off a powerstroke(DI)? And Is it alright if i put them on the new engine?
Thanks in advance,
Keith

You can't use PSD heads on an IDI block. Different injectors, different design, IDI is mechanical and PSD is electronic injectors. Also PSD needs HPOP to fire injectors, no such animal on an IDI.

Not to mention a PSD has 6 head bolts around each cylinder and an IDI has 5.

ok so i really have no idea what these are then. they must be custom made or something. they have the same injectors as and idi so they must be indirect... and they have just as many head bolts

Can you post a picture?

Easy way to I.D. The PSD head is the injectors and glowplugs are mounted under the valve covers, and on the I.D.I. They are outside and inboard of the valve covers.

Maybe the copper washers aren't installed under the injectors? That'd make the nozzle tips a little more visible in the prechambers. If they protruded at all they'd get smashed by the pistons.

Just what I said - if the injector tips protruded from the precups they'd get hit by the pistons.

Injector tips protruding from the pre-cup is impossible..

I thought maybe I misunderstood you.
