Direct Switch for wiper Motor

I can`t locate the problem for the wiper. Is there a way to directly hook up the motor to the switch or a different switch? Thanks, Rob

Bob I can forward the 93 Wiper manual to you if you PM me your email addy......... what is the problem.

EDIT............ there were some wiper module problems due to vibration of the park brake mounted module. Not certain as to your problem so we need that info to access a fix.

Its the 88 that needs help

Thanks Pete, Its the 88 that needs help.I`m going to take apart the dash next week to see if I could find a ground problem. When I turn the switch on the left side of the dash by my left knee, I hear a click, click and keeps going and the volt meter is going beserk on the dash near the other guages, but nothing happens w/ the motor or wipers.
The 92 is going today. A friend bought so he could start the blending thing I`ve been doing.
Its funny, I never knew it had a wire for the block heater, so I finally found one when I was messin around the other day and hooked up a male end to it and it worked great. But since I used it twice, there is a fluid leak somewhere(looks like oil) and I can`t find out where its coming from .Its looks like it is coming from the middle of the front part of the engine where some lines go to and from a small looking radiator infront of the big radiator.Any ideas before I get rid of it this morning? I`m going out there in a little while,i`ll check back. All fluid levels are fine.Rob

Small cooler would be the trans cooler most likely......... so would the lines be from the trans to the rad cooler portion of the trans cooling system.

Couple posts re what I think is your other problem........

You have the typical intermitant wiper module failure. The good news is it is an easy fix.

Follow the wires off the back of the switch down to the module. The module is located on top of the emergency brake pedal bracket. Once you remove the module open it up carefully. Inside is a circuit board with some electronic components and a couple of relays soldered to it. If you remove this board and flip it over you will find a broken solder joint on one of the relays. Take a soldering iron and resolder it. All Fixed

After viewing several posts on wiper problems I decided to tackle the "black box" wiper delay control under the dash. After I got the thing out , unplugged, and in my hand I pulled it apart as described in other posts and I found just what I was told I would find, broken solder joints (3) connecting what appears to be a switch/relay mounted on a sheet metal "platform" with 2 "wings" (heat sinks?). The 3 jounts connect the switch and the 2 legs of the "platform" to the circuit board. I re-soldered the connections, flipped the board over and then used JB weld to glue the legs of the "platform" down to the board and used a big dab to glue the side of the platform to the side/end of the black "cube" which sits next to the platform on the board. This glue job will help the platform stay in place under vibration better than the weak solder joints in the stock set up(I hope). Hard to describe but if you open the box (2 screws) you will see what I am describing pretty clearly. I re-assembled the board in to the box, reversed the metal mounting bracket (used same holes in box and bracket but rotated it 180 deg.) Then re-mounted the unit under the dash in a place well away from vibration (I hope). I used a rubber washer (made from an inner tube) between the truck and the mounting bracket this should keep vibration down (I hope). I now have two (2) constant speeds: slow and " a little faster", and I also have my intermittent settings back. YEEEE HAWWWW!! Saved some green, justified my hanging around this site to the wife, all is well and good.
Thanks to previous posters who suggested opening the box.

Good luck

I put in new wiper motor

Thanks to everyone that posted, especially Pete...wow that freaking guy has saved me some big $$$.
I can honestly say that the 88 f-250 was a bear to take apart to get to the motor.I`m glad I did it and I can help anyone else who needs it. Please feel free to email or post.
Process of elimination and the sound of the motor making a noise w/o the arms moving led me to guess it was the motor. I purchased at Autozone for 47.00 and gave them the old one for the core thing exchange.
Works fine. The black box seemed to be in a good place w/ a screw on the bottom bracket to hold in place.Unscrewed and took it down to the floor board and inspected.Looked good and it made a clicking sound when the key was on.I did break off the solder joint wire to the ground(it is a wire that goes to the side of the switch and then to a body ground) that goes to the switch and that was a ***** to solder back on.Next time(hope not) I will unscrew the ground wire and solder should be a little easier...it was late and I was not thinking clearly..lol...

Thanks guys

Over three years I've owned my 90 F-250 IDI and never had more than high speed wipers. Not so any more! Low, High and Intermittent is what we now have, thanks to you all!

On mine, the black box is attached with one torx head to the frame for the dash. It is right above the e brake pedal. Daurn near impossible to get a hand up there from the bottom side. Wound up pulling the sub panel (lights, wiper, tank selector) off and pulling it through there. No wires "plug" into the black box on mine.

30 minutes to find the damn thing... aggravating
30 seconds to locate and re solder the broken connections... lovely
5 minutes to put things back in their place.... nice
Knowing where it is the next time... priceless!
