was wondering if anybody could tell me how much noise a dmf can make before I should be worried? When starting the engine, it clunks and rattles for a few seconds, and when idling if i am out of the vehicle it seems to be making a bit of a clunking or very very quiet banging. Do I need to replace this real soon? I wanna wait till it's a bit warmer if possible (4-5 months) . Also anybody have some longterm success with the lucky mod? like 60k or more? any advise is appreciated.
The noise is relevent to the amount of rotation between the sprung parts and whether any springs are broken. I would get under and see how much movement there is on the flywheelparts..

nothin you will have to worry about Cowboy with those slush boxes but DMF stands for dual mass flywheel its basics are its 2 peices in one with springs between the 2 to help dampen shock loads but the springs end up wearing out and breaking giving to much free play then you can cause damage as 2 solid pieces of steel start hitting each other the Lucky mod is a method of tearing it apart drilling out the right places and bolting it together named after the good guy that came up with it Lucky Larue thanks Jim hope that helps
OHHHH ok. Thats what i like to hear, i got enough to worry about with my truck right now! But it is good to know though, thanks!
