Ok, I bought shoes from napa. the two shoes that were marked secondary left/right were short and a long pad. My understanding was that both secondaries should be the longer pad and the primary(front) pad should be shorter. If i follow the markings they gave me, then the driver side would have two shoes with long pads, and the passenger side would have both shoes with short pads. Am I wrong or did the napa reman screw up??

well the primary is larger and secondary is smaller they are messed up for what you see it is one big one small per wheel if not the right will brake better than left

i think front not sure usualy the front does more braking so id think front ill look at my truck if i can tomorrow for you

Absolutely wrong, the primary shoe is smaller and the secondary is the larger shoe. The primary shoe always goes on the front of the backing plate, the secondary to the rear.

Wrong again, the rear shoe always does more braking on any brake system.

Short brake shoe is mounted toward the front of the vehicle.. longer shoe is on the back...both sides..

Just remember it's a forward energizing brake system. The tops of the pads get pushed toward the drum by the wheel cylinder. This causes the front smaller pad to get pushed around by the drum to then engage the bottom of the rear pad. So the front pad is shorter because the bottom of it would never even really wear if it were there. When the vehicle is driven in reverse the opposite happens and that's how the the self adjuster thing is adjusted.
