I actually had been wondering about the same swap, but havn't seen or heard anything about one being done.

I know of one truck with a 466 in it and I think it was a pretty tight fit.

Finally! Somebody with vision. I wish I had one laying around. I'd try it. Figure on a body lift as a pre-requisite, and go from there.
I would like to put one of those in my IH S series.

I have a couple of those engines around here, and have considered it myself. I reconsidered when I done some measuring though and found it would take quite a bit of work. It can be done, because I have saw a mid ninties ford with one in it, but like I said it will take quite a bit of work. If you do the swap you will have alot of power potential though!

BOY!! talk about 10 pounds of rump roast in 5 pounds of jeans!! i think the biggest issue would be with the pan. you would need to rotate the sump, as all HD Truck engines use a front sump (clear the solid axle). guess slice it carefully around the pan rail. rotate it 180', reweld it up, and make a cutom pick up tube. the next issue, you will need like a 3-4" body lift, as the 466 is 8-9" taller than the 7.3l. now, on to length, likely you will not have A/C, as the radiator will need to be infront of the support rather than behind the support as it is now. if i were to do it, i would rather do a DT360 as it is shorter and not quite as tall. seems to be a better fit. the 360 will be easier to cool, as well as easy to fit. for trannies, i would likely use a spicer 5 speed out of a f series HD truck (l,ln,f600 and up), they have the SAE bell housing and will hold up to the power and weight. plus you could have a cool PTO to run hydraulics like a winch.. i believe the final ratio on most Gas trannies are 1.17-1 meaning you will need 3.08-3.54 gears to do any real highway driving with tires under 33" tall. diesel were in the range of 1.04-1.09, and will do better, but the cost will likely kill you. gas ones are a dime a dozen, and most yards will give the things to you. the diesels are a bit rarer, and are worth there weight in.. well.. aluminum, maybe silver. last gasser i bought was for a ln800 with a 429 Lima Industrial. think the yard got me in the range of 175 with no core charge. it even came with a Dana rear facing PTO with a 1" shaft on it..
HMMMM saw a 84 350 CC DRW with a bad 6.9l in the paper for 750.. maybe its time for a winter project... oh man, my wife would kill me. 4 diesel trucks, and only 2 drivers...
Major mods include Moving firewall back so far the dash has to be relocated.Body lifts,Cowl hoods, etc I don't mind......Hmmmm,White Lightning might get a DT466 if it can be done relatively easy.
I don't believe the fire wall was moved, and I'm pretty sure the dash wasn't, not sure what he did with the oil pan and radiator.

hmmmm, looks very possible. The engines are nearly the same size other than length(Using the 444E measurements,Ok,its a PSD but international doesn't list the IDI).
T444E
35.7" long
29.4" wide
36.6" tall
930Lbs Dry
DT466
45.1" Long
29.3" wide
40.8" tall
1425Lbs Dry
Hmmm, only 9.5" longer.A cowl induction hood can fix the extra 4.2" in the up department.....I wonder if our front end can handle that much weight....
