Most modern light duty trucks that need a hydraulic pump (tow trucks etc) will use an engine driven pump with a magnetic clutch. The problem with a trans driven PTO is that it is not "live" in other words it only works with the clutch out.

The 4r100 offered the pto option. Change out the solinoid and shift linkage and it can be swapped. No engine clutch to apply with an automatic. Drives pto off a gear on the coast clutch, not output shaft.
