I have a 92 2WD with a E4OD. It is making a growling noise when not on the throttle. The trans shifts pretty good, and the fluid smells and looks good. This noise is really bad when Im pulling a trailer at 65mph+. I did notice the speedometer moves around slightly at highway speeds. Could this be causing it? If so where do I get a sensor and where is it located?
Thanks in advance.
I doubt its the speed sensor, but you could try it. Does the noise change with speed or rpm? Have you changed the fluid and filter lately? Does your od light blink, try pulling the codes? Does it do it stopped with the truck running in gear or not? Give us some more info on when it does it and what it sounds like. Does it vibrate the truck? When going down the road over 50 mph holding the trottle steady and maintaining speed push the 4-way button, do you get a raise in rpms?
