e4od questions

my gears are 3.55s and i have the e4od, what are other's rpms with their similar setup. i am not happy with mine, its at 2000 rpms at 65. i think this is a little high. also i dont think the tc is locking up. i have always been able to feel the tc lock up on all my other vehicles with od trannys. i checked last night by tapping the brake to see if the rpms raised a little. nothing happened. where would i start checking to get this figured out.

You need to pull the codes from the computer which is only for the trans on your truck. You should expect code 62 which is excessive TC slippage. Sounds like your TC is shot, I've got the same problem.

The OD light will not flash on a '90 model if it senses a problem. You will need to ground the test connector under the hood and attach a test light to one of the other leads, I don't remember which one, in order to flash the codes. Gee I just did this about a month ago and I already forgot exactly how. Let me see if I can find the post I used to tell me how to do it.

thanks for the help. i have a test light and a digital multimeter, so i used the test light. the first code was 2 blinks followed by 3 blinks. it did this twice and paused for a little bit. then it did 1 blink followed by 4 blinks. does anyone have a list of the codes.

You had a code 23, then the 1 flash separator, then 11, which repeated. 23 means either the FIPL is bad or you didn't hold the go pedal on the floor while the test was running. The 1 flash separator means the hard codes are done, the codes stored in memory are next. The 11 in memory means no codes have been stored.

ok, i should back up and figure out how to do this test correctly. i plugged in the jumper wire and placed the alligator clip of the test light to the positive battery terminal. i then turned the key tot he on postion. i then went back and held the test light to the appropriate terminal. so how should i do the test. and i cant find a list of the codes, does anyone have them.

any time you do the test the gas pedal should be held to the floor the whole time your doing the test. if you let it off while doing the test you will get a trouble code.

ok, i redid the test with the throttle pedal pushed down. the only code that i got was 11. so what else would make tc not lock up. and with stock 235/85 tires and 3.55 gears, what rpms are you guys running at.
