e4od troubles

just woundering if anyone has a trouble shooting step chart they could e mail me. My trans wont go forward or rev. Doesn't matter if it is in 4x4 or not. shift selector in moving on the side of the trans, both tranny electrical connectors are plugged in, trans fluid is good, Level fine and nice clean red color. I checked all fuses, and dropped the pan. no metal found and fluid is very clean. Truck was driving along all day, then went into a store for a bit, when i came out, started up truck, shifted to rev, and nothing..no forward or rev. truck ran great all day long, no signs of problems heard or seen up till then. No external leaks, engine runs fine, no check engine light. could this be a torque converter or a soliniod???? please help.
thanks
pete

Re: e4od troubles

The E40d is still an electronic shift transmission. I don't know what to say. Call Brian at BTS? oh, your up YONDER!!! Um, guess maybe someone more knowledgable on here will offer advice. (I know when my 4R100 went. IT just WENT! No warning either. (I However did have rev. and could shift manually, it just would NOT take off in drive.) I have heard others on here say theirs just "Hit the bed" so to speak. With no warning either.

Re: e4od troubles

Does the parking pawl still hold the truck? If so, the transfer case is good. If it won't hold the truck, the trans is probably good and the transfer case is not.

It isn't a solenoid. It's possibly the torque converter, but not likely. If it is inside the trans it sounds like a broken shaft.
