electric fuel pump differences

I am looking for a good electric fuel pump for my truck. I know i want a holley red. BUT...is there much difference in quality of procomp red and holley red? they say procomp has a holley design and they both have the same specs.

Whats your guys' opinions?

Thanks

Re: electric fuel pump differences

I bought the procomp pump. Been working great for almost a year now. My only complaint is this style of pump is very noisy.

Re: electric fuel pump differences

I ordered a procomp "red" from a dealer on flea-bay for $48 last week plus I also ordered a rebuild kit for $13 more which is back ordered so they're going to ship both at the same time to cut down on the shipping $$$

Re: electric fuel pump differences

i should have added people with the holley pump say they are loud also. Apparently this style of pump is just noisy.

Re: electric fuel pump differences

k...was looking at this pump info for the holley red pump on a site that lists its specs...

it says its not suggested to be used w fuel injection systems--but we can use it????

also says it isn't compatible w methanol or alcohol fuels...what about homemade biodiesel???

Re: electric fuel pump differences

The problem with Holley pumps is they're built for racing. They were never intended for long term use. When my Holley folded, I went looking for something better , and found a Facet Duralift Facet Duralift
It's the factory pump for new Carrier Transcold and Thermoking reefer units and is designed for continuous commercial service, and can lift fuel 10 ft up so, unlike a Holley, it doesn't have to be mounted down under the tank level to function properly. I have mine up under the hood on the inner fender where it's easy to change the filter screen on it ( built in, another nice feature having that with it's own trash/water seperator bowl, makes main filters last longer and you don't have to worry about crud locking up the pump )

Cost is a bit more than Holley, but it's well worth it.

Re: electric fuel pump differences

Where do you buy the Facet pump? I did a few quick searches on google & ebay and couldn't find much on the 40222 model.

Re: electric fuel pump differences

My new PC pump showed up yesterday, included was a second pressure spring to change from the 7 psi default to 9 psi. Going to try to get the shop MT so I can get it swaped in this next week.

About the only places to find them easily is at Carrier Transcold, or Thermoking dealers
Part number is 30-01108-01SV from a carrier dealer ( facet part #40223 )
It was funny, when I went to the Carrier dealer, they don't have the Facet # so I had hi just look up one for a late model Carrier reefer unit, and he had the part in the computer, but it took him quite a while to find it in the parts room. Turns out they've never had one go bad and he had no idea where they were stashed.
Considering all the frozen and refrigerated carriers we have around here( this is chicken hauler central ), I figure that's a real good sign.

this is supposed to be an excellent pump. i just installed one and am satisfied with it so far. it will pump about 3 times the volume of the facet pump mentioned above and it has an internal screen filter and comes with a mounting kit with rubber insulators to cut down on noise and vibrations.
