Re: Factory IDI turbo??

I was going to buy a Banks kit, but I guess this would work as well?

Re: Factory IDI turbo??

The factory IDI turbo was an ATS system. I don't know how the two compare. When I had an IDI I put a Hypermax turbo on it. I liked it!

Re: Factory IDI turbo??

Check the motor serial numbers. The turbo blocks numbers started at 1,116,331 and went up from there. Anything lower is a non turbo block. There is plenty of non turbo blocks that can handle a turbo so its best to know what you are buying. Even after you have proven its a turbo block it may or may not be a "turbo motos inside. The turbo motor has a 33mm piston pin size and the non turbo piston pin size is 28mm. They still can handle the turbo but not much boost above 11 lbs.

Re: Factory IDI turbo??

I'm not going to push 11#s. I just want more towing power. I think 4-5 lbs will do the job.
