hey guy my fan clutch went today and i priced one at the zone. $140.00 is what they want. what i want to know is has anyone went to electric fans? i was thinking of a pair of 16"ers to cover alot of the radiator. i just wanted to know if anyone knew if this would work or not the cost of fans and therm. kit to make them work automatic from a local supplier is about $90.00. how many cfm would i need to flow? thanks jon
Don't bother trying electrics.......they will not work. The clutch fan is the most able system to cool our engines........ Have you done the fan test on my gallery..........

Yep, electric fans are not able to move enough air to cool these engines. Don't go there!!!! Check the thermocouple spring on the front of the fan clutch. If it is greasy/dirty it won't respond to temps well. clean it off and try it again. When the fan clutch engages, you'll hear it ROAR, even over the sound of the diesel working hard. If it does not engage by 220 degrees, replace it!!! Rent/borrow the fan clutch removal tools when you buy the clutch!!!! OkieGringo
thanks guys i checked the fan after the 45 minute drive to work and the fan wobbled some on the shaft of the clutch. when it was cool it felt tighter. well anyhow you guys have convinced me to just replace the clutch and roll on. how would i find a clutch with a lower engage temp? thanks jon
