Re: Found a TTB front axle on side of road
Alongside the road...where those axles should be. I wonder why they didn't just take it to the scrap yard if they spent all the time in loading it up and then dumping it off on the road...Take the axles outers off (rotors, calipers, hubs) and save them for a Dana 60, since they are directly swapable. Those things are pretty heavy, too- When I converted my truck to a D60 I torched all the bolts out and dropped the TTB down, and tried to move it around but I ended up just torching it completely in half and loading it up like that.
But those axles should have a "50" stamped on the one half of the housing, near the yoke. I don't think those ever had drain holes in them- you have to take the two halves apart as far as I know. One of the ways you could tell whether it's a 50 or not is to:
1. Check the hubs and see if they are larger than a 44 (hence...dana 60 size)
2. The ring gear should be the same size as a Dana 44 (9 3/4")
