fuel adjustment

What is the screw for that is on the rear of the pump just above the fule lines? Is this a external fule adjustment and if so does out give more or less fuel?

Re: fuel adjustment

I believe on yours that is the guide stud, it holds things together inside the IP. If you want to turn up your pump go to Ziggster's web page.

Re: fuel adjustment

I already turned up the internal screw all the way but I dont get a trace of smoke. I dont want a black cloud but I do think I could use more fuel. I was sure there is an external screw for fuel to, I just wasn't sure exactly where it is an that one I mentioned is the only one i could find.

Re: fuel adjustment

Can you give us the part numbers on the pump. Only 92.5 and up had the fuel screw from the factory so you probably don't. Do you have any info on the age of the fuel system, it might be time for some new.

Re: fuel adjustment

Sorry after re reading the engine in the 86 is a 94 TD You would be right there is an external screw. ATS has info re turning up the IP when there turbo is installed. Unfortunately I do not have the info, 350Camper posted it a year or so back but he resides on another site now.

Found it.......go here http://www.thedieselstop.com/archive...translate.html and punch in #1700472 then click the blue numbers.

Re: fuel adjustment

I missed the 94 motor thing too. There is a screw, probably the one you found with a jamb nut that you can screw out.

Re: fuel adjustment

Thanks guys! That was the info I was looking for. I am a bit confused though because I looked at the origional '86 6.9 IP and it has the same screw on it. I remember a diesel mech turning up a screw on it back when I first got it but that was a while ago. The old screw was out to what looked like about 4 threads. The new one was all the way in. I gave it a couple turns but after reading the thread you linked I guess I didn't go enough. Now what did I do with my wrench! Thanks! Steve

Re: fuel adjustment

You better make sure you got the right one, the 86 shouldn't have one.
