FUEL MILLAGE AND IS THERE A BIG DIFFERNECE IN SIZE OF TAMKS.

JUST WONDERING WHAT KIND OF MILLAGE YOU GUYS ARE GETTING PER TANK WITH A LOAD ON? I'M HAULING A LOADED 55 FOOT CAR TRAILER. ONE OTHER THING IS THERE ANY DIFFERNCE IN THE SIZE OF TANKS FROM FRONT TO REAR.

cant really say what I get with a 55' loaded with cars. but I pull a 36' tandom dual trailer loaded with a tractor, cutter, bailer, chains, etc...around 25K. I get about 9-10mpg. a lot of stoppin/slowin down is involved. and i go about 65-75mph.......Gibson

oh, the tnaks are prolly 19 gallons each.......

Of course if you top it off there may be a gallon more, but Ford recommends not doing that due to possible leaking of fuel at several areas.

Please stop using CAPS LOCK it's like SCREAMING ON THE INTERNET!!!!

Do a search for broken tank sender pickup tubes, they only allow 3/4 of the tank as usable fuel.

There's a lot of science in Towing and Mpg.There is a lot of things that improve mpg and there is a lot of things that cause bad mpg when pulling including the weather!

On a good dry day not going against the wind pulling a loaded 16ft tandem axle utility trailer with a 3,000 pound car on it I make around 15 or 16 mpg with my f350 93 idi.

How can you pull a 55 ft trailer on any highway when the maximum limit on a tractor trailer is 53 ft??? How is that legal?

Unless other states have different highway laws and limits ?

Re: FUEL MILLAGE AND IS THERE A BIG DIFFERNECE IN SIZE OF TAMKS.

First off, looks like he's in Canada so the trailer limit might be different up there. Also, I would like to know about that 3/4" tube. I've been told to look for it and I CAN'T find it. Is it IN the fller tube?

Who said anything about being legal??

I'm still wanting to know about this tube that may be letting me get only half draw on the rear tank.

Re: FUEL MILLAGE AND IS THERE A BIG DIFFERNECE IN SIZE OF TAMKS.

They are talking about the pipe in the fuel gauge sender assembly. I don't know what the thing on the end of the suction pipe origionally looked like but I retrieved a big handful of black hard rubber or plastic debris from both my tanks. I used a 3/8 inch fuel hose adjusted to just clear the bottom of the tank. I put some screen over the hose end and clamped the screen end and inlet pipe end.

would that be why my tanks only seem to hold about 14 gallons in one and 12ish in the other? I've always figured i had a ton of crap in my tanks. I haven’t dropped them to look yet. But when my tanks get low my gauge vaguely tells me that I’m almost empty. I read in my owners manual that i (if i remember right) should have a 19 and 18 gallon tank.
