gas to diesel swap?

i own a 92 f250 and after i get home from this deployment in iraq im wanting to start gathering parts to do an engine swap from the stock 351 to the 7.3 idi and well not sure on how much mods im goign to have to do to my truck. as far as rewireing and small stuff like that i figured as much, but am i going to have to change the front springs and tranny too i have the e40d but its for a gas motor of course. just curious if anyone here could help me out and let me know if i was going to have to rebuild my front end as far as motor mounts or if it was something simple as just pullin and bolting then figuring out wireing afterwards thanks for the help.

The transmissions from a gasser will not work on a diesel because the bellhousing is a different shape/size, therefore it won't bolt up to your 7.3L, You'll need to find another transmission from a diesel, I've heard gassers e4od's are not designed strong enough for a diesel. Fuel systems might be different as well. Diesel has the pop injectors, I'm not sure what gas has, but you will probably have to switch tanks, fuel lines, pumps, and such. Motor mounts probably won't line up. Gear ratios in the rear/front differentials might not be appropriate for the diesel as well, should look into it just to be sure.

I'm not an expert, still learning, but those are some of the logical things that I can come up with. It sounds like you might be better off just selling your gasser and chipping that money towards a whole diesel truck. Good luck

thats what im begginging to think i really like my truck but maybe time to get something newer and yeah the gasser e4od isnt such a great tranny in my opinion and well its already burned out on me so thats getting fixed while im over here in iraq but i think im going to keep my eye open for a rig so when i get home i can sell and buy. but if anyone has some more to add that would help trying to save money and put alot of work into it if i do find that this is easier to just build then to buy whole new truck id rather not have payments to work on
