If my fuel has gelled which I doubt it has, how do I ungell the fuel. Dont have a salamander or a garage big enough, much less the rig is outside and I cant move it up the small incline. Right now batteries are down., going to get them recharged. It was 6 degrees this morning and is now 13 degrees at the moment. It cranked up ran 5 or 6 secs then would not start after....I dont know what happened, my rig has always started even when it zero out. usually I add power source but had emptied the bottle and not have replenished the supply.
yeah it could possibly be the glowplugs, Ive noticed more smoke at start up and smell of raw fuel while idling before warming up, will be testing the glow plugs when the temps rise to the mid 40's by Christmas day. (Ive had the rig 5 yrs and glow plugs have not been replaced)
Thanks and Merry Christmas to all the diesel dans.......

Planned upgrades are a new and better turbo and larger exhaust pipes than the 21/2s that are already under the rig/ would like a 6 spd tranny but dont know if that is a feasable or smart investment yet.

try charging the batteries and plug in the block heater, you can check the fuel at the schrader valve to see if you are getting fuel pressure while turning engine over

If there is an incline park with the nose down, see if the problem goes away. It could be an air leak in the fuel system.

Get some anti-gel and pour it in the tank. You'll have to give it a few hours to work. You'll need a new fuel filter while you're at it. She's gonna make you 'pay' for negelecting her . OkieGringo
Batteries charged, she is turning like a charm and wants to start, Ive got some fuel coming out the schradervalve, I removed the fuel filter and didnt look like it was gelled in there, got some power source, you mention the 911 stuff, Ill look and try that but I put some power source in the filter. Tried again and she sputtered to a start, she is running now pretty good. I put a good dose of power source in the tank. Ill tell you, I am going back to the truck stop and for a few cents more get their fuel. Never had a bit of problem with their fuel......I aint going to tell you where I got my fuel from (W-Mrt bc it was cheaper) so I aint gonna tell you/ but at the truck stop its is better cleaner fuel and they put additives in it to keep it from gellin....Some people want to be gellin but not me...
Thanks.......I got her going...I was headed for a heartbreak....

I get my fuel at Walmart up here - never had a problem with it - now the truckstop up here that's a different story - gotten bad fuel off them twice in the winter.

Will Work For Diesel Fuel.
This area of Oklahoma is "Diesel Dually Country" . Ah ain't aseen sooo many DDs in mah hol' lif . If the local Wal-Mart was sellin' bad diesel, there'd be a friggin riot . OkieGringo
Diesel 911, I got some once then read the fine print........
Check their web page for the antigel you need to add to the 911 so it will do what Stanadyne Pro already does......right outta the bottle. Better yet I use Howes Diesel Treat bigger bottle, cheaper and most truck stops already add it to their fuel in winter.
Maybe all you really need is the PS antigel see web page.

Years ago I worked with a gent that was in 3 armys during WW2, the Lithuianian (sp), German, or Russian army, depending on who ever captured him. His job in the Russian army during the winter was to get up about 4 AM and start fires under the diesel fuel tanks on the trucks so the diesel would ungell.......

Well my rig started right up this morning. It got down again to 4 degrees.I dont think it was the fuel anymore/ may have been air in the lines or maybe not the right mixture of additives when the guy delivered the diesel to W-mrt.But I am glad its fine....
Ill continue to use the power source/ Claims it also boost fuel milage. I cant really tell any diffrence but I do hope it keeps my fuel clean and the injectors clean and lubricate the IP pump...And I do think it helps in starting on cold morning,,,,,,,,
