Re: glow plug question

What happens if you tighten it to 25 or 30 Lb.ft. I did one that tight by accident and it felt like I was on the verge of stripping.

Figure if I have to take it out, I better plan on replacing that one.

Re: glow plug question

Man, I would take that one out ASAP. I hear glowplugs can brake off easily (non for me yet, knowck on wood). At LEAST back it off to 12 ft-lb. I remember how hard mine came out and I torqued them myself. Heat has a funny way of REALLY making things hard to take apart.

Re: glow plug question

I thought i read on here 12ft/lbs thanks for the clarification guys, it was a miserable job (1990 e350 cube) i could barely get the air cleaner off! I couldnt see the front cylinders and i hope i didnt get any crud down the holes but..anyway i noticed im going to need a fuel return line kit soon for the hoses were looking cracked and dried, also i had to remove the steel lines on top of a few of the injectors is this going to cause any leak problems (air or fuel)? i wasnt sure if there was any type of o-ring to seal that cap. by the way i changed out my glow plugs after cheking one to find out it was a champion and pitched them in favor of the motorcrafts.
thanks for all the help so far jason

Re: glow plug question

quite possibly, put the peddle to the floor and crank it up and check for leaks. If you devolop a starting problem thats probably what it is.
