glow plugs not working

My truck was starting fine untill a few days ago. THe plugs would come on for a few seconds, and then click on adn off for 30 seconds adn then the truck would start good.
Now i dont get any power to the plugs. I tested 1 bad one with my light, other than that all good. The wts comes on for 10 seconds like normal. IS that 1 gp throwing me off, or did the relay or controller take a crap? thanks

Wink

Ditto, I had trouble once and found a bad plug connector. that was all it took to mess with the timer and make starting harder.

Make sure and use Motorcraft glow plugs. I do not remember the part number. These are the best for 7.3. I did a search for my online.

Put it in today, still not starting. The wait to start light works fine, but the big zig zag thing is not getting any power.
Im getting power all the time at the big lug catty carner to it.
The little lugs have power when the key is turned on, and it sound like the thing is clicks off after 2o seconds or so. Could the relay be bad on top of the controller? IS there a way to just test that thing itself?

thanks

relay

Sounds like the relay is bad or the solenoid on top of the relay is bad. you said it clicks but ur not getting power on the 2 big studs while its engaged?. if thats the case u can replace just the solenoid on top of the relay... im currently working on my truck doing the same thing.

New controller and still doenst work. the truck will start fine if i jump the 2 big lugs on the solenoid, or if i ground the little white wire. ALl the glowplugs are good adn are getting a connection.
Im ready to just toggle switch the ground on this stupid controller

hmmz

Sounds like u have a ground issue. so the relay is clicking with the key?? but when it clicks the

2 big studs are not hot? still sounds like a ground issue. or a bad relay, but let me tell you they are tough i almost fired mine by not puting the little plastic cover on the relay and grounding it with the air cleaner lol. and it still works.

Replace all of the plugs. I had the same problems. Also does the high idle kick in? Even when warm my wts stays on at least 5s. If you have power to the controller with the key on someting is telling not to work. The plugs or high idle.

the big lug has power all the time, and the little lug has power when key is on, so that means all the fuses and fuse links are good right?
The ground is good, i checked that, ill check the high idle next.
the truck will start great if i jump a screwdriver accross the 2 big lugs, or if i ground the little stud with the rubber cap it works too.
the wait to start light stopped coming on as soon as i changed the controller to the new one.

Put the old controller back in and see what happends. The WTS light should be working if the new controller is working. Even when mine plugs went bad my WTS still worked.
