Grrrrrrr ...IP?

Well , i posted earlier that i put my rebuilt IP on that i ordered http://mwfi.com/dieselPage/ford_73.htm , i dont think i had the timing down perfect....wich i was planning on taking it to get professionaly timed soon .

So anyway , i was pulling my boat , i think about 7,000lbs , and filled her up at the gas station , then went to the next station to fill up the truck......and it just quit while filling up.....almost studdered like running out of gas .

Now ever since i changed the IP my truck has been running hotter than normal (just by the stock guage) it can somtimes go all the way up to the L in NORMAL . I dont know if this has anything to do with it .

But i cracked the fuel lines....theres fuel before the IP , so my filter isnt clogged , but thiers no fuel after the IP !! None to the injectors....and none out of the return line off the pump .

If i plug and unplug the fuel shutoff selidiod i hear it click....so i dont think thats the problem .

Any chance I just got a bad pump? I've been running it for 2 weeks now . Has anyone dealt with these guys before? Are thety gonna let me send it back? Im gonna write them tonight and see......kinda sucks because im without my truck till one gets shipped here .

Re: Grrrrrrr ...IP?

do you have a pyrometer on that thing? The timing being off might be causing the EGTs to get too high. That would cause the water temp to go up.I wouldn't drive or haul anything with that thing till I got the timing set right.

Re: Grrrrrrr ...IP?

No , no pyro....and i was worried about that myself but i only towed it about 5 miles . If my EGT's were too high , could that damage the pump in any way?

I couldnt even put my hand on the hood the truck was so hot(90 degrees today too) . But i dont think i got TOO hot to do serious damage.....the truck just died like running out of gas , and theres no gas coming out of the IP , so the problem lies in there somwhere .

I wanted to buy a pyro.....but ive been sinking so much money into this truck , i just cant justify it all.....and now this , i had to tow my boat home with a 305 chevy......and it felt just about as good as my 7.3 , im wondering why im wasting my money at this point .

Anyway , ive over-heated a 7.3 before.....and i know for a fact i dint this time .

Re: Grrrrrrr ...IP?

Some one else just recently bought a injection pump from that same company, MWFI, and they had to send it back. It was running very rich, quite poorly, blowing black smoke all over town. I'm trying to remember who it was, but I'm drawing a blank. Anyhow, call the company and get authorization to send it back. Tell them you want it shipped overnight to you. Good luck, Tim

Re: Grrrrrrr ...IP?

DPS is the way to go, great guys to deal with and will take care of us IDIers. Nothing but good luck from Ken and he can put together about any kind of IP you would need. Plus, the price is about the same and he will stand behind his stuff, all day long. Scotty

Re: Grrrrrrr ...IP?

I need to get a good rebuilt IP. Can you tell me how I can get ahold of DPS? What is their website address or phone no. Sorry about your problem, but maybe I can learn something from your recent experience.
