GV over/under drive

Does anyone have any experience with the over/under drive made by Gear Vendor? There was one on my truck when I bought it but I can't tell any difference when it shows to be on or off. I found some broken wires on the undercarriage and think it may not be working. Any help would be appreciated..

Re: GV over/under drive

I have sent them an email trying to get a wiring diagram. One thing I would like to know is should I notice a difference when it is showing to be on and when it is off? Also, should a second overdrive kick in at highway speeds?

Re: GV over/under drive

The GV unit should act like an automatic top gear. Mine kicks in at 47 mph with 3.55 rear end ratio. The green light on the rocker switch comes on to tell me it's in gear, but I can feel it kick in also.

Re: GV over/under drive

Call GV and they will send you a free manual in a couple days. They are great folks. If your green light isn't on, then your unit probably isn't coming on. On automatics there's a extra footswitch on the floor that looks just like the brights switch. That needs to be on as well as the control box at the dash. The OD won't come on til 45 mph, not sure how that works with the 4 speed auto, mine was on a 3 speed C6 auto. Get on the road and mess that that footswitch. The GV kicks in a lot harder than the tranny shifts, you can feel it, and it drops your rpms a lot in double OD. I have one on my '91 w/ a ZF-5 also. I love it.
