Hard to turn off cruise....

All is well until I tap the brakes or push the off button on the steering wheel to turn off the cruise...as soon as i let up on the brake pedal it takes off again! If I use the button I have to push it about 5 or 6 times, holding it down for a few seconds on the last push, in order for it to not come alive again! This is a pain! Where should I look or what should I do?

Re: Hard to turn off cruise....

I think you will find there are 3 switches, off switch at the cruise, Boo switch and the deactivator switch assy. If your truck has same system as the 93 I have a troubleshooting chart. PM me an email addy..

Re: Hard to turn off cruise....

My '89 does this as well. I've just gotten into the habit of pressing off 3 or 4 times when I want her to shut down. To kick it out with the brake, I have to hold the pedal down for a good couple of seconds to disengage it, just tapping it doesn't work like it does with everything else. Kinda gives you a rush when she opens back up on ya when your not expecting it doesn't it?
