Hello all! My heater core is taking a wizz on my passenger side floormat. 1)How big a deal is it to change the core on these, on my bro's ram we had to take apart the dash & "evacuate" the a/c refrigerant. 2)What kind of coolant is the best? Mine is clean and I'll test it before I'd reuse it but these are so prone to cavitation (from what Ive heard) I'd like to put off rebuilding the engine for another couple of years.

Thanks cdnsarguy, you're like the top dog on here. Parts store only had the aluminum core, but hey, for $23 and a lifetime warranty, its all good. From the pics it looks amazingly easy, I'll pop it in later this week. Also, I tested the coolant with one of those floating ball testers, & its good to about -35*F, but I'm guessing that has NOTHING to do with SCA's?

Slice them lengthwise at the nipples and just put new ones on with the new core. Hint: Brush antiseize inside the ends of the new hoses and they'll come off easier if you ever have to do the job again.
