Heim Joint Clutch Mod.

Just picked up all the parts for Ron's heim joint clutch pedal mod. I will be starting the project soon. Just checking to see if there is anything I should know before I start. Thanks

As far as the modification goes?
Clutch pedal is now stout and constant from the top of the pedal to the bottom of travel. No more pushing for a starting out gear accompanied by the "mash the clutch pedal to the floorboard" syndrom.

As for how?
Now I can easily disengage the clutch pedal to start the truck(s) and shift thru the gears without "grinding a pound"
Cost effectiveness was also a great factor considering the cost of replacement parts from the dealership or aftermarket locations versus total parts cost of the entire mod(under $10.00)

Re: Heim Joint Clutch Mod.

Hey Dog catcher, is this the heim joint I need?

Also, I'm a little big to be wallowing around under a dashboard, would it be worth removing the master cylinder and doing the grinding and stuff from a standing position?

Re: Heim Joint Clutch Mod.

CG,
Yes that will do the trick. Right in the ball park for pricing too.
As far as pulling the master cylinder yes it would be easier, but keep in mind you'll have to bleed out the slave afterwards. You will still have to get under there to remove the tab on the clutch pedal assembly to grind the post off there. Tried leaving it on the second truck but gave in as the post was not only tack welded into place but pressed onto the tab as well. PITA. Much easier to remove the tab. 2 good smacks with a hammer and punch and all is good.
If'n you were a little closser or feel like a road trip, would be happy to give ya a hand.
