Help with fuel tank... URGENT!

I just noriced my rear diesel fuel tank is leaking on my 1991 LWB F350. I need to get a new one ASAP, is there a place online I can get one for pretty good price? I don't want to go used, but I also don't want to pay $400 from the stealership. Thanks.

Re: Help with fuel tank... URGENT!

what kind of leak is it? pin holes, hair line cracks or just a big ol HOLE? i woudl drop the tank, empty tank and let dry, clean outside real good with simple green, JB-weld the holes smaller than a pencil leads width and if it is bigger; take a piece of flat metal and JB-weld over holes. JB-weld is only 5$ or less. better than mucho pesos for fuel tank, IMO.............Gibson

Re: Help with fuel tank... URGENT!

Could be as simple as overfilled and the rollover valve is leaking.. or a bad seal on the sender/tank.

Re: Help with fuel tank... URGENT!

Yep, checked it out further (after posting this thread), and found out that it was indeed too much pressure in the tank, and the actual fuel cap is leaking, so the pressure came out the cap, dripped down the side, and out from under the tank. All I will be doing is buying a new cap, and cleaning up the lines.

Re: Help with fuel tank... URGENT!

May not need a new cap it did it's job........but if overfull...

Fuel fill cap

The fuel fill cap is sealed and includes a built in pressure-vacuum relief valve. Fuel system vacuum relief is provided after 0.50 psi and pressure relief after 1.6psi. Under normal operating conditions, the fill cap operates as a check valve, allowing air to enter the tank as fuel is used, while preventing vapors from escaping the tank through the cap.
