Re: help my poor truck

Have you checked the wiring and the VSS Vehicle speed sensor on the rear axle, first choice.

The trans is going in and out of "limp mode" most likely..... 2nd and reverse.... so you can still Limp to the service station.....

Have had recent members with similar problems, some have found that unplugging and replugging the PSOM plug(s) on the rear of the cluster fixed it too.

Re: help my poor truck

Check all the trans electrical connections especially the one on the right side with the tin cover, remove the tin heat shield, remove the solenoid connector by pushing on the center tab and pulling up on the wire harness. To install push down until a click is heard. Always reinstall the tin heat shield.

Your looking for corroded, bent or missing pins and water etc.......

If you want PM me an email addy and I will send location pics of the PSOM wiring.

Re: help my poor truck

I had this prob too...

Check your speedo wire. It runs from your trans tail housing (or transfer case) up through your cab, under your floor padding and up into your gauge cluster. Make sure it is plugged in tight on both sides. If its not it will cause it too get good readings, then bad readings, then no readings at all. And with bad or no readings, it will through off the computer for the transmission.
