Help with timing after new IP

92 non turbo 7.3 IDI. just put a new IP on and was reading the
book (hastings) on how to time it. borrowed a timein light attachment
for a diesel. I found the mark on the crank end and the 0 on the
little plate that sticks out and has the two hollow studs on it
but don't know where 8.5 deg BTDC is. where are the marks for that
The book says to set it while running 2000 rpm. If you all have a
different way let me know thanks

Re: Help with timing after new IP

The marks are on the flywheel. Spray WD-40 on flywheel and clean it off. Use chalk on the flywheel to fill the marks and wipe off the surface. OkieGringo
