he has a '91 F450 with 7.3 IDI and 5-speed...he tells me it will push-start just fine...but won't start with the starter. he installed new glow plugs, no change. i told him i think it is either the batteries or the starter...and that his GP's might not be working...could be the relay. anyhow, anyone have any idea what it might be and how to check to find out for sure? don't wanna waste his time...
Josh

How long is the wts light on? How fast does it turn over? Try getting the batteries individually load tested? Try plugging it in and then report back. Did he try jump starting it?

What brand glow plugs did you put in? If not Motorcraft/Beru, they may be burned out already. Autolites are really bad plugs. Check out ziggster's page on glow plugs or Agnem's articles. Don't put in new plugs until you've tested the old ones. Get a 50 watt 12v trouble light with battery clips. Attach the red clip to a positive battery terminal, touch each glow plug terminal for a SHORT time with the black lead and see if the light turns on (make sure the switch on the light is in the "on" position). Good glow plugs will turn on the light. Make sure controller works before replacing plugs with new ones, or bypass it with manual momentary switch (on Ziggster's page or Agnem's if I recall correctly).
