High idle solenoid

Can the high idle solenoid be purchased at a place like Auto Zone or is it a dealer only item?

Re: High idle solenoid

I think it might be a bit easier and cheaper to just use a throttle stick. That way you can just set it and forget it like those toaster ovens on the infomercials.

Re: High idle solenoid

make sure the high idle is really the problem.

when I bought my truck I noticed the fast idle didn't work.
I figured it was bad, but ummm... actually it wasn't plugged in.
Figures, truck had spent it's whole life in orlando florida.

put some power to the fast idle selenoid and see if it engages.

Re: High idle solenoid

Also look down where the top rad goes to the gooseneck, there is a sensor down there that controlls the fast idle and timing advance solenoids, make sure the plug is on and connections are clean.
