Re: highest hp on a 7.3idi

I think the highest any IDI was Kens from DPS he made one that was up there around 400hp If I recall. Although it certainly wasnt an effiecent daily driver it was powerfull. There was a clip of him starting it somewhere posted. Im shure he went through many starters and batterys it wasnt easy to get going. Im fixing to get mine running and put it on some dyno rollers hopefully by the end of the month. It wont be the highest but Im shure it will make good power for an old IDI. I dont think many people really put these things on dynos that often. Most of these trucks are pure work horses used on ranches, for towing, daily driver transportation ect. As you may notice most of the post are maintenance related.

Re: highest hp on a 7.3idi

Go to: http://www.dps-performance.com/ click on galleries for the lowered comp. idi starting.

That's not Kens 400 hp motor on the clip. He also built one that engine dyno'd at mid 600's, but it launched all it's guts the first time he pulled with it. I don't think he plans to rebuild it since it takes a lot of cash and you can get the same numbers and bigger on a computer controlled motor.
