OK.
So here is the next question and I thought I would post it in the 7.3 side to get your guys ideas on it.
Tomorrow is the divining point. Once I know what this other truck is going to sell for, I will decide to do the motor swap or not.
There is two motors available, both from 93.
Motor One-
100,000 miles in a service truck. Looks a little un-clean and semi rusty on the motor. Little bit of the standard oil leaks including the oil-cooler appears to be leaking some. My only main concern is the lack of care this motor appears to have, but it has lower miles. And, the valley pan seems a little rusty, and I don't want to get it and have a hole in it.
Motor Two-
170,000 miles in a PU f-250. The truck looks like it was well kept. All tags are highly visible, the IH gray is still on the valve covers, return lines look good, appears to be minimal leaks and the oil cooler doesn't appear to be leaky at all, etc..... The guy in charge of the salvage yard actually would have replaced the tranny that was bad in it and drove it if it wasn't for the fact that one of his workers decided to process the truck in order to take the tires and rims off of it. (he was pretty ticked).
So, what's the thoughts. I figured at the minimum I would take my SCA test strips with me and see what the rad fluid is like in both motors to help decide also.
Also I want to add. I do think there is some sort of 5 day warranty that the salvage yard will give me to make sure that the motor actually runs or not.
Thanks.
