How far do most turn up the pump?and does the timming need to move also?

BWDIESEL and I installed a Hypermax system on his 89 IDI.

Looking for a little more power than we got.

We bumped the pump 2 flats, should we retard it also?

How far do most of you go? 2-3 flats??

Whats next, bigger injectors?

Thanks, Jason

You need a pyrometer before you do anything else. You really don't want the EGTs getting to high, or you're going to destroy your engine. Do you have one already?

Yep, got that area covered.

Just wondering where most of you run your pump. And if you set your timing up or down.

Thanks, Jason

I turn it all the way up, then back it off a 1/16th or so, then drive by the pyro. Not going to hurt it driving with all the way truned up, just don't let it get above 1250 pre turbo, and you should have no problems. Scotty

Oh, no need to move the timing if it is timed to specs, which is 8.5BTDC, at that timing with the turbo and fuel maxed out, you should come clsoe to 13-15psi of boost and alot of great power. Scotty

Did your fuel economy go down or up. My buddy keeps saying his went up. Doesn't make sense to me , more fuel means less economy doesnt it?

My fuel economy went up. I can even run it harder now, and still get better mileage than the old IP ever gave me. IF you don't use all that extra fuel, you are not going to burn more. Scotty
