How long does a full tank in your h2o injection or propane tanks last?

Im thinking of doing one of the 2 and I was wondering what size tanks you all have, were/how you mounted them and how long a full tank lasts you guys depending on what your using it for, will it run out quickly if it is used as a constant flow? Thanks guys.

Re: How long does a full tank in your h2o injection or propane tanks last?

I have a 7.5 gallon propane tank and can milk it for about 750 miles if I am set on cruise and just rolling up the freeway. The PS2000 does not use alot of porpane when set up for an IDI, doesn't need too much, but it will really help out on the fuel mileage of the actual truck a bit too. Scotty

My homemade system went through WW fluid sort of quick but then again I was jamm'n on the go pedal quite a bit and....

Typically I would get around 350 miles out of a 10 gallon tank (Windshield washer fluid). But again my foot is made out of solid LEAD

Re: How long does a full tank in your h2o injection or propane tanks last?

So, for my 1986 7.3L, do you think that a propane, or a water injection kit would be better? I'm leaning towards a propane kit. One thing I'm kind of concerned about is safety with propane. What happens if it gets hit in a wreck? Will everything or everyone blow up? A buddy said that most likely the tank is designed to be dented and not pierced. Sound right?

Another thing, when people talk about H2o or water kits, its actually water/meth right? Or am I getting it all mixed up?

Re: How long does a full tank in your h2o injection or propane tanks last?

You can run either H20 (water straight) or you can run Windshield Washer Fluid (Water/Meth/coloring) or you can run a homebrew of water/meth mixture.

With straight water you get no extra power - just cooling.

With Meth in the mix you get a little extra power with cooling - is it enough to write home about - looking back eeerrr ooo I don't know - probably not...

Re: How long does a full tank in your h2o injection or propane tanks last?

propane tanks are generally pretty tough. if you have a wreck, and its bad enough that the propane tank in the bed ruptures from the impact, then you are probably already dead enough that it won't hurt.

we used to shoot at bar-b-que propane tanks when we were young (from a distance of course) and never had one blow.

the biggest issue is having a line get cut. could turn your truck into a big blowtorch until you kill the solenoid.

Re: How long does a full tank in your h2o injection or propane tanks last?

Thats another thing I was wondering about is if someone is shooting at me and hits my propane tank(hey, it could happen). So, more than likely, wether a wreck, or someone shooting at me, I shouldnt have to worry about the thing blowing up? Everyone in the industry I talk to says theyve never had anyone have those problems. I think I'll just relax and put the thing on.

What about bigger injectors for my rig? Do they require a different fuel pump?

Thanks,

KomatsuKid

Re: How long does a full tank in your h2o injection or propane tanks last?

Propane is nice, it adds power all the way around the RPM band. I really like to use it. It is like adding a second turbo (almost). It does not affect EGT's and it pulls great. And yes, you can get better injectors, check out www.dps-performance.com and talk to Ken about Stage Ones and also look into one of his IP's. Good luck. Scotty
