Re: How would I know if there is coolant in my oil?
When your engine is cold open the rad cap the liquid should be to the inner rim on the rad. If it is that's good if it is not then check your hose from the rad to the overflow reservoir make sure it is free flowing and not plugged up, they will get plugged if placed right to the bottom in the res with crud in it. Always wash out the res when doing a coolant change.
The only way to tell if coolant is in the oil is to drain it, first thing out will be water. Check for a diesel fuel smell and thinner than normal oil viscosity......possibly diesel fuel.
When did you check the oil.....always check the oil HOT after suitable drain down. The oil will expand a qt normally so run the engine at or slightly above the add mark cold, if you must check it when cold.
