Hypermax turbocharger for 1988 Ford F250

Any words of wisdom, etc about whether or not installing a hypermax turbocharger on a perfectly running 1988 Ford F 250 7.3l diesel with C-6 auto tranny is worth the effort? Is an ATS or Banks unit better? Is adding a turbocharger to a fine running but poor towing truck worth the effort?

Yes it is worth the effort. ATSis the manufacturer of the factory turbo Ford used on some '93 and '94 IDI 7.3 trucks, and Banks have been making an aftermarket kit for those trucks for quite a while now. Is Hypermax worse than the other two - well, they are non-wastegated turbos, which means low boost till you load 'er up and the EGTs climb up, but the way they designed the thing it's about equal to the wastegated ATS and Banks setups. One thing to consider would be customer service and product support - Hypermax seem to be absolutely great folks to work with in that department, and I've seen plenty of negative comments about ATS, dunno where Bank falls.
