When starting the truck today the ignition switch had an odd feel when turning the key . The glow plugs worked, the truck started, the gauges worked but the odometer, speedometer, did not, the brake, oil, water in fuel warning lights on the right side of the dash were on , and the OD light was flashing . I restarted the vehicle and had no more problems . I presume that the ignition switch is failing . Which part is failing and what is the repair solution ? Does to column have to be disassembled to repair it ? - Thanks
Sounds like you need a new key cylinder. Available at auto parts store for about $10.00. There is a small hole under the cylinder, turn key to "RUN" position and use a allen wrench to press the button in the hole. Pull cylinder out. OkieGringo
Okie - I changed the cylinder out with one from Autozone a little over a year ago . I guess that it could be bad. However the symptoms of getting part of the system working made me think that the problem was in the electrical part of the ignition switch assembly(instead of the cylinder ) Anyone have a good diagram they can post or email
? - Thanks
I have a GP controller test PM me an email addy and I will send it when I get back from the shop. Check your ground wire on the GP controller.

Was the key hard to turn? I have run into a problem with the rack that operates the ignition switch on some of these trucks. I usually remove the column covers and use a spray grease on the linkage and this usually helps. The reson that the lights are acting up is that the linkage binds up and will not allow the ignition switch to fully return to the run position. Hope this helps!
