injector line crossthread

I may have crossthreaded the 2nd from front of truck on passenger side line while replacing IP pump. I unscrewed and tried to re connect. Noticed metal shavings so I know I have some damage. If line doesnt seal what usually strips the line or the injector threads. What can be done?

Thnaks remote.

Re: injector line crossthread

I cross threaded one once on my 6.9, all the way down. I removed the injector and cleaned up the threads with a small triangular file I have for that sort of thing, of course removing the shavings. I replaced the injector and screwed the nut down, no further problem. I think if I did not have a small triangular file I could probably have just brute forced the nut on straight and it would have worked as well.

Re: injector line crossthread

the nut is part of the inj line, it doesn't come off. ur gonna have to get a new line. international dealer, a good diesel engine shop, or a donor engine. new ones about 25 or 30 bucks.

Re: injector line crossthread

What I am looking for is not the injector line. It is what the injector line connects to on the injector pump side. There is a black fitting that the line connects to.

MWFI does not list it on the site.

Thanks

Re: injector line crossthread

That piece usually stays with the injection pump, if you're referring to the line fitting that is on the distributor section of the IP. The only place I'd know to get one is if you had an old pump you could scavenge one from.

Re: injector line crossthread

Just to update this for future searchers. MWFI does carry the part. It's part number 20727. It's not on the web site so you have to call and order it.

You torque it to 60 ft/lbs.

Re: injector line crossthread

That sounds like way too much torque for such a small thread. Are you sure its 60 ft lbs??

That's what the guy at MWFI told me and that is what was on the little paper that comes with it. I have not seen anything official from Ford on it though.
