Injector pump weep hole leaking??? Time to rebuild?

Been having hard starting, engine cranks for 20-30 secs then starts...when I did this the last 2 times, I saw fuel leaking down from under the injection pump running on the top of the engine and onto the ground....probably about 4-6 ounces. As soon as the engine got warm (20 seconds) it stopped leaking and didnt leak the rest of the day.
Do you think this extra fuel leaking out is because the engine cranks so long [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]? I have also heard this is a seal leaking fuel, and that it usually signiifies a rebuild is needed? IF so, what are typical prices to get this done? ANy recommendations for less expensive shops in Ohio?

Check and make sure you don't have a return line or other fuel system leak. Usually when a pump starts going bad it won't start when it's warm. They usually just slowly keep using more fuel and your milage gets worse. I've run Ford diesels for twenty years and I've never had a pump go bad and stop working, the performance just always went downhill. Take a good look and see if there are any other possibilities, usually a long start when they're cold is air getting in the system some where. How many miles on the pump? With diesel today at $3.12 it probably is a good idea to replace it anyway if it has over 125,000 miles.
