Injector Return line kit

I have the "early" system that uses smaller diameter hose for injectors return line. Would it behoove me to change to "later" system which is larger hose? If so then how? If changed will the connection from hose to metal line behind intake be the only issue? TIA

You should be able to change, it is not supposed to affect anything in your application, yes that should be the only issue, your local auto parts store should have a fitting or fittings for you in brass, but maybe you can get that piece from a 7.3 instead.

drinky, Thanks. Ok so is there enough fuel line for the filter to the IP? I will order the kit from ebay w/o injectors as not enough ebay credit. Unless I order via Amazon which I may do. Should I go ahead and replace injectors as they are original but don't know if any are bad? Will it mess up the O-rings to pull everything again later to replace injectors? I need to be schooled on injector options too, will install turbo later but will need power now for the move later on. Any special tools needed? I do have a Mac Injection Pressure tester so will check it to rule out low pressure causing the problems.

Thanks, JASTECH & Son

I'm not sure, how long is that line? My last dipaco kit had a bit of extra hose.

Which Mac set do you have. It takes a special set-up to test the injectors. You have to pressurize them and record the pressure that they "pop" and spray fuel, and that is over 1500 PSI.

I would concentrate on the return system at this point. You can replace the injectors down the line if you have to and replace just the O rings if the caps and lines are still intact. mcmaster carr sells a bag of 50 for less than $7.00

Chuck, dinky, Thanks! Chuck, I was going to test the pressure after the filter on the schrader valve. I read it's suppose to be 6psi? I think the fuel filter was good when you looked at it and poured Seafoam in it Chuck? I would have to buy one with the terminal on the bottom correct?

Remove shrader core, run a line into a jar, 1/3 pint after 10 seconds. put the pressure gauge on, 4-6 psi after 10 seconds. (of fast cranking)

You definitely want the filter with the port on the bottom for your water in fuel sender

The schrader valve Drinky is talking about is in the filter header and looks like a tire inflation valve. I havent seen any filters with a clear bowl for our application.

If the sensor and the wiring are okay, then I wouldn't worry about water until the light came on. We did over 8500 miles and fueled up from a lot of different stations in a lot of different states without any issues. trick is to fill from stations that move high volumes, in our case truck stops.

You're welcome. There ya go, Chuckster found it. The 6.9 kits will be the smaller 3/16" hose and 3/16" nipples on the caps and the 7.3 kits take the larger 1/4" hose and 1/4" caps.

I don't have the cash to spend, so credit via Ebay or Amazon is what's left. My other half took care of the cards :-(
