Anyone else have one of these injector tester? It is Rotunda brand made by OTC. I still need to get injector line adapters for it and get the gauge calibrated.
pm me if you have a spare injector line you want to trade or sell..

I really want to get this tester to work. I need at least one injector line from a 6.9 or 7.3 idi so I can check it out. If you have some, pm me your price. Any of the 8 injector lines will do.

Thanks for the tip for the inj lines on Vegieburners. Turns out the lines from the 7.3 won't work because it won't mate to the fitting on the tester. I got a line that mates up on both ends from a local inj shop. Took the cover off and it appears to have never been used. Gotta go get some diesel and try it out.

I am aware of the calibration fluid. It is very expensive at around $20/ gal. Why wouldn't diesel fuel work? After all , that is the fluid that goes through the injectors in the engine.
Anyway the line I bought from the shop leaked at the fitting on the tester. The nut is the wrong thread and the fit is too loose. I had a hydraulic shop make me a high pressure hose (5000 psi) that have the correct fittings on both ends and the unit works. I was able to pop a few nozzles using diesel fuel. I still want a steel line because the hose I have, even though it is rated to 5000 psi, may expand a little and skew the results.

5000 wont shift the results--and--theyll all be the same pressure anywho--also--go to a farm tractor place--they carry a fluid called injector cleaner--when i took my wd45 nozzles there--thats what they have used in their otc tester for years--and no harm--plus cleans the nozzles as you pop test them--

I got all metal adapter fittings to go from the female pipe thread on the pump to the injector, which per the hydraulic shop, is a metric 6 mm fitting. The injector sits horizontally and the unit works fine. I catch the spray with a big coffee can. Popped the old injectors from the 7.3 just for kicks. One didn't open at all, another leaked. Still need to find another gauge to replace the damaged one.
I am using diesel fuel. Haven't heard any good reason why it shouldn't be used. Only reason I can think of is it's more flamable and toxic than the calibration fluid. I use the tester outdoors and those are non issues.

Here are more pics of my nozzle tester after I added a 4.5" silicone fluid filled gauge. It's popping the injectors well but I do not know how close to being calibrated the gauge is to spec, which is +/- 1%. If I'm ambitious, I may find a place locally to test it for calibration.
At school and on our ship we just use K1 kerosene. Then again, most the injectors we test are larger in diameter than our trucks pistons. But we still use K1 on the Cat 3512, EMD 567, and even little Lister lifeboat engines. I'd say diesel would be fine for the obvious reasons you said. We just use K1 cause it might be a little cleaner? just my $0.02
